First Post from my BlackBerry thanks to WordPress

by timtrice on 4 February 2010

I never realize how in the dark I am until someone shows me the light. Well, that light came courtesy of Mashable today when they annonced Wordpress released their own app for Blackberry. This is an upgrade from the beta release last summer. Essentially (I think), I can do anything I want from my phone that I could do from the laptop.

I’m excited. After spending all day in front of a computer it’s not something I want to do when I get home. And, quite frankly, Wordpress’ method of “post-via-email” sucked. With this, I can add meta tags, assign categories, write my excerpt (like I ever did to begin with) and upload photo’s (yes, that’s me giddy w/ excitement).

Apparently, though, it doesn’t make the Crackberry’s camera phone any better in quality. I can add the standard tags (caption, title, description) in in the media library by selecting “properties”. I can’t change the size, however. So, as you’ve noticed, the pic is wider han my content-frame. Beggars can’t be choosers.

You cannot add HTML, however (hence why I didn’t link to the Mashable article). I can see to some extent why you wouldn’t want to add too many style buttons or controls. But, I hope they at least allow edits in HTML in future versions.

Other than that, I’m better off today than I was yesterday. Hopefully, this will decrease the likelihood of me blowing off writing a post since now I can do it from anywhere – even on the 35-minute drive home (from the passenger seat, thank you).

Now, if I can just find a good feed aggregator for my phone I’ll be good to go…
